The Bantam Reps played a tough series against Ingersoll in the OMHA play downs but unfortunately bowed out last week.

The Flames showed a lot of heart but simply did not have any puck-luck! There is still of action to report as we continue in the Southern Counties play downs! On Friday night we entertained Tillsonburg in our barn. Ryan Clinton was a force along the boards every time he stepped on the ice, keeping the Tornadoes honest. The period saw lots of end to end action but there was nothing to show on the score clock at the end of the frame. We began to click in the second period when Carter Purdon took a rivotting blast from the point that was somehow blocked by their tender, but a juicy rebound resulted. Trevor Wing was in the right spot to pounce on it but his efforts failed to produce a satisfying result. Eric Stranz took over and out muscled the opposition and made a net deposit, to give us the lead. That lead lasted only 15 seconds before they knotted things up. Later in the frame, Noah Davis hustled to the puck in the neutral zone and delivered it up ice to Andrew Legare, who split 2 defensemen to break into the clear and ripped a beauty to bulge the twine. Before the period ended, Matthew Tomlinson stepped in from his point position to cut off a break out pass and scored on a rocket to the glove side of their startled tender. The Flames were not done yet as the third period saw more action. Andrew grabbed the puck behind their net and made a nifty pass to Carter on the point, who let the hard shot fly. The rebound was garnered by Ben Scott and he picked the top shelf. We were up 4 – 1. With their goalie pulled, a scramble in front of our net ensued and the puck was deflected into the neutral zone, where Noah sped off, took aim and found nothing but net. Matthew MacDonald played a strong defensive game, back-checking with power. Isaac Seltzer made some jaw dropping saves in the net and was rewarded with the victory! On Sunday night we travelled to St. George to play the Generals. They jumped in front in the first when we ran into some penalty issues. Sam McFarlane had a chance to break the bubble but his shot was deflected harmlessly into the corner. Dylan Dugal corralled the disc in the corner and attempted get it in front of their net but he, too, was foiled. Will Barrie went end to end with the puck and close but the tender redirected out of harm’s way. Early in the second, the home squad went in front 2 – 0. The Flames finally got it going when Trevor picked up the puck in the neutral zone and dumped it into their corner. Eric skated hard to the puck and fed it out to the slot to Andrew whose quick redirect found pay dirt! Before the period was over, Andrew had won another faceoff back to Matthew T. , who passed to his partner, Eric, who wired it to the back of the net and we were all tied up! We went ahead in the third while we were short-handed. Jordan Morschauser cleared the puck off our boards to a streaking Andrew. He blazed around a d-man and went top shelf. Midway through the period they tied it up again. Sam Johnson made a miraculous save on a breakaway to preserve the tie. Until next time, may the Flames be with you. By Doug Legare
