The Bantam Rep Flames had 3 matches last week. On Wednesday, we visited Tilsonburg for what would prove to be an exciting tilt.

The first frame saw no one score but Sam Johnson was particularly impressive in net as he continually thwarted all attempts to score. In the second, Matthew Tomlinson stopped an attack in our end and made a beautiful pass up to Sam McFarlane who tipped the pass perfectly to Andrew Legare in the neutral zone. Andrew made a couple of shake and bake moves to break into the clear and rifled a shot to the top shelf to put us in front. Jordan Morschauser was his usual steady self on defense until a nasty hit put him on the bench for rest of the game. Eric Stranz kept their offense honest as he introduced their players to the boards. Jake Feicht had a chance to increase our lead but their tender made a nice save off his blast. In the third period both teams had chances but to no avail. We left their barn with a hard fought 1 – 0 victory, thanks to a total team defensive effort. On Thursday we travelled to Caledonia and soon found ourselves in a similar battle as the night before. Again, another total team defensive effort was observed by the fans. Matthew MacDonald was particularly effective in his role as a back-checking specialist. Ryan Clinton was a monster as an offensive zone attacker, being first on the puck most of the night. Will Barrie controlled our end as he fought to strip the disc away from most offensive threats. It was Isaac Seltzer’s turn to shine in the crease as he kicked out the puck on all possible scoring attempts in the first and second. Nearing the end of the third, they finally managed to get one past the goal line after long hard fought scramble in front of our net. It was our turn to leave the arena with a 1 – 0 loss. On Friday night a scrappy team from Delhi visited our barn. There was no scoring in the first but the flood gates opened in the second! First we saw Trevor Wing ripping down the wing and picking the corner with a splendid shot. Then it was Ben Scott’s turn to light the lamp when a scramble in front of their net, occurred and Andrew L. and Sam M. tried to take out the trash but failed. Before the end of the period, Will B. fired a shot on the net that resulted in a juicy rebound that Andrew L. jumped on and drilled it into the back of the net. More of the same action started off the third when Noah Davis made nice tip pass to Andrew L. who made some nifty moves and a goal of superior quality was the result. Later the fans saw Andrew L. carry the puck over their blue line on a 2 on 1 with Noah Davis. He sucked the defenseman and goalie over and made a tape to tape pass to Noah who was staring at an open net and the rest is history! They broke Sam Johnson’s attempt for a second straight shutout as the period was winding down. We left our barn with a 5 - 1 win! Until next time, may the Flames be with you.
