March 11-12: Ayr Minor Hockey Tournament
The Ayr Minor Hockey Tournament was this weekend and the LL3 boys had a ton of fun in playing in it. The team would like to say a big thank you and a job well done to, Liam Finn and Ryder Cunningham, who were the AP’s that were able to join us for the tournament,  LL3 was able to play three games and they were all incredible intense.

The first game we played was against Simcoe and the boys did terrific. All of LL3 really showed that they were a team, by watching where the other players were and choosing their passes.  In the first period Cohen Dalton had an unassisted goal and Deacon Samay scored our second goal with an assist from Matthew Aoun. In the second period we were unable to score but Simoce was able to get one more goal which meant we headed into the third period tied.  The third period Simcoe scored two more goals, but our LL3 boys didn’t let that stop them as Deacon Samay scored an unassisted goal and Cohen Dalton score three goals with assists going to Liam Finn, Brody MacAulay, and Deacon Samay. The boys won their first game 6-4.

The second game was just as intense, we played against the visiting team from Douro. At first it seemed as though the game was not going to end well, Douro was a very worthy opponent and LL3 had to fight hard to get the puck out of our end. Thankfully the defense picked up the pace and with great teamwork and fantastic saves by JS Deacon, the boys got the puck to Matthew Aoun. who got a breakaway goal. In the second period Deacon Samay scored our second goal with assists from Jack Coughlin and Sam Steward. Coming into the third period LL3 were ahead 2-0, but Douro did not let that last long and scored two goals of their own.  LL3 wouldn’t let that stand and our defensemen, Brody MacAulay, Emmet Holman, Jack Coughlin, Colton Hanlon, Jonas Lindsay, and Ryder Cunningham, fought hard to keep the puck away from the net on each other their shifts.  It allowed Liam Finn to assist Deacon Samay to win the game 3-2.

Our third and last game was a tough one, the boys played hard but were not able to win against our home counterparts LL1.  Deacon Samay got us on the board in the third period but we couldn’t come back from the 5-1 lead. That meant we did not have enough points to continue onto the finals, and although we didn’t win, it did not mean there was no fun had.  LL3 had such a blast and the teamwork and team spirit that was shown throughout the entire tournament shows the crowd how much fun our team has when we go out and play the great game of hockey. Thank you to the coaches for another wonderful tournament. And another thank you to Liam Finn and Ryder Cunningham for joining LL3 in our hometown tournament.
