3 wins and a loss
The Ayr Flames Novice LL1 burst into fourth place in the Grand River local league!  First game the Flames hosted Embro Edge 1, who are currently in 3rd place.  Egan McDonald opened up the scoring for the Flames with two goals in the second period, assisted by Will McLeod and Hayden Covemaeker.  Edge fought back and soon it was 3-2 with a minute left to play in the game.  A very solid J.S. Deacon, who played a spectacular game stopping so many shots on net, was pulled to put an extra man advantage on the ice.   McDonald potted a tying goal for a solid hat trick, assisted by Covemaeker and Jackson Wright.  It wasn't enough as the Edge scored their last goal with 2 seconds left in the third.

Next the team travelled to St. Clements for 2 games against Twin Centre Stars 1 and 2.  In the first game, Darko Maldini scored a beautiful goal late in the first period, unassisted.  Wright followed up quickly with a goal off a win at the 2nd period face off, scoring 10 seconds in.  Maldini was hot that day, potting two more goals for his first season hat trick, assisted by Danik Godard.  The Flames came away with a solid 4-1 win.

During the second game, Wright, Maldini and McDonald each potted 2 unassisted goals.  Amazing defenceman Sullivan Cofell saw his first goal of the season after a spectacular shot on net, assisted by Will McLeod.  Flames won 7-0.

Last, the team travelled to New Hamburg for an exhibition game.  McDonald and Maldini scored 2 goals each, assisted by Covemaeker, Wright, and Benson Dietrich.  Carter Cressman also saw 2 goals during the game, assisted by Covemaeker.  Cofell earned himself another solid goal during this exhibition game, unassisted.  Covemaeker had a stellar game with the 3 assists and a solid goal in the second period, assisted by Godard.  Deacon only let 2 past his pads, securing an 8-2 win.

Throughout these games, solid defence by Grady Brown and Derick Groot who back up the stellar Deacon created the right combination for stopping goals and creating winning opportunities.  Next, the team faces another tough challenger, Beverly Bandits 2.  Wish them luck!
