Notes
On Saturday, November 3 the Ayr Flames PeeWee LL1 team travelled to New Hamburg for their first game against the Huskies. Ayr took the early lead, with Cameron Hall out-skating the New Hamburg defence from the red line to make the first goal of the game , with an assist from Alex Jantzi . Kaelan Duffy blocked several good shots by New Hamburg, and Ayr held their lead until the second period when a New Hamburg goal from a face-off in the Ayr end put the score at 1-1. Thanks to strong defensive work by the Ayr Flames Aidan Berge and Aaron Turnbull and the unrelenting offensive play of the Flames' Nicholas Calhoun, Tyler McCLelland and Garrett Schnieder making for lots of action in front of the New Hamburg net, while Calhoun got the puck by New Hamburg's goalie , with an assist by McCLelland, to take the lead 2-1. Ayr used great teamwork to deny New Hamburg any power play opportunities after an Ayr penalty left the Flames short one man. New Hamburg took a turn in the penalty box too and the period ended 2-1. Into the third period, New Hamburg was able to get a tough shot by Kalean Duffy to tie up the game. New Hamburg kept up the pressure as Ayr played out another penalty, but Cameron Dabrowksi and Tyler Wise helped prevent any go-ahead goals. Hard work by the team and coaching staff is paying off. Dalton Luelo, Mathew Szijarto and Alex Jantzi all found good opportunities for shots on the New Hamburg net, helping to keep the pressure up throughout the game. The Ayr Flames settled for a 2-2 tie. Next game is Wednesday, November 7 at 7 p.m. at the NDCC against Ayr Flames PeeWee LL2, followed by the Ayr Challenge Cup November 9-11.
