The Ayr Minor Hockey Association (AMHA) is thrilled to announce an exciting new chapter in the future of competitive hockey in Ayr; one that marks a historic step forward for the Ayr Flames program.
AMHA is proud to share that the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) has officially approved the Ayr Flames to compete at the A level beginning in the 2026/27 season. This exciting advancement includes the following teams:
U10A
U11A
U12A
In addition to the launch of A-level hockey, Ayr will continue to ice B-level teams across applicable age divisions, ensuring strong development opportunities for players at every stage. AMHA has also been given the opportunity to field U16 B and U21 A teams, where feasible, creating a full and sustainable competitive pathway within the association.
This milestone allows Ayr athletes to pursue higher-level competition without leaving their home community, strengthening player development and reinforcing the future of hockey in Ayr.
Final Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) ascension and formal league alignment will be completed in the new year as administrative processes continue and league structures are finalized. Coaching applications will be opening shortly, with more details to come.
AMHA extends a heartfelt thank you to the OMHA and OHF for their guidance, collaboration, and support throughout this process. This achievement represents a proud moment for AMHA and sets the stage for an exciting future as the Ayr Flames prepare to compete at the A level for the 2026/27 season.
The future is bright. Go Flames!
Thanks,
Kevin Miller
