Incident Saturday night at NDCC

On Saturday night around 9:50 PM, an incident among spectators in the front lobby of the NDCC after the U18 B game between Delhi and Ayr. The WRPS were contacted and, along with others, managed to disperse the crowd.

It's truly unfortunate that a youth team advancing to their league final can turn into a situation like this, overshadowing the players on the ice who have dedicated so much effort throughout the season. For some of these players, this will be their final season, and these are not the memories we should be leaving them with.

As adults of this community, we hold the responsibility to create a safe and positive environment for our youth as they engage in their chosen activities. Unfortunately, the events of this past weekend highlighted a failure to meet that expectation. I urge those involved to reflect on their actions and consider how they contradict the values we strive to uphold in minor sports.

It's crucial that we collaborate to ensure our young athletes can fully enjoy their experiences, free from the negative impact of unsportsmanlike behavior. By fostering an atmosphere of respect, support, and understanding, we can cultivate a culture that truly benefits our youth and nurtures their development both on and off the ice. Let's work together to create lasting, positive memories for them.
