Return To Play!
Submitted By B Sayles and M Thibeau on Thursday, September 17, 2020
Working within the current ‘Covid’ environment, the Board of Directors of Ayr Minor Hockey have been working toward a return to play plan.

In putting the plan together, we focused on achieving the following:

  • Safety of our players and their families

  • Provide a fun, challenging hockey experience

  • Adhere to local health unit directives

  • Follow the OHF(Ontario Hockey Federation) return to play framework

  • Adhere to facility use procedures (NDCC)

In developing our return to play plan, we have had a few parameters to work within.

  • We have been allocated about 60% of the amount of ice per week we utilized last season.

  • The ACC is not planned to be opened at this point.

  • We have about 30 hours per week to utilize at the NDCC.

  • Ice times will start on September 21.

Return To Play

  • Players will be placed into cohort groups within each age division.

  • Programming will be offered for Jr IP through to U-18 (Midget) divisions

  • Cohort groups will remain together until Christmas at which time we will re-evaluate our programming based on health unit and OHF guidelines at the time.

  • Cohort groups in the same division will not be playing each other and will not travel to other centres.  Cohort groups will only be on the ice with their own group until the Christmas break

  • Coaches will focus on a fun, competitive atmosphere with inter squad 3 on 3 and 4 on 4 games making up a portion of the ice times.

  • Cohorts will range in size from 15 to 25 players depending on the age group

  • Players will only be on the ice with their own cohort and cannot change cohort groups.

  • We will strive to have every Cohort group on the ice 2 hours per week

  • Coaches will be in contact with players the weekend of September 19, 2020.

Registration Fees - Payable Prior to the First Ice Time

  • Registration fees will be charged for 13 weeks of hockey that will run from September 22 to Christmas at which time there will be a 2-week break that will allow for further programming to be developed.  Registration fees for play after Christmas will be determined once a program plan is in place.

  • Registration fees for all players at all levels will be $375 for the 13 week session payable prior to the first ice time.
