Ayr Peewee AE Flames Regular Season Week 4
This weekend, the Ayr Peewee AE Flames played the next two games of their season.

Previously, Ayr was on a 2 game losing streak.  The first game was on Saturday night in Ayr against the Plattsville Rage.  Gage Montroy would start in goal this game.  In the first period, the Flames got off to a good start with lots of shots and dominant zone possession, but didn’t score.  In the second, the Rage started to get into the game and leveled time in the offensive zones.  In the third period, both teams turned up the heat as the final buzzer neared.  Plattsville struck first at 12:09 to make the score 1-0.  5 minutes later, Plattsville capitalized on a 5-on-3 power play to make it a 2-goal deficit.  Ayr pushed hard, but couldn’t match the play of the Rage and ended up on the losing end, 2-0.

On Sunday, October 30, 2016, the Flames travelled to Cayuga for a rematch from last Sunday’s game.  Nate Sherk would start in net this game.  In the first period, Ayr jumped out to a quick start and drew a couple of penalties to go on a 5-on-3 power play.  The Flames quickly capitalized and Jesse Janzen scored the opener at 6:33.  The goal was unassisted.  The Flames continued their efforts with smart penalty killing and strong work ethic.  In the second period, the Flames picked up the pace and continued the onslaught of scoring chances that took place in the first period.  Midway through the period, Ayr found themselves killing a penalty when Josh Loughrin broke out on a breakaway. He skated hard, only to be tripped by a Cayuga player.  The referee’s arm went up for a delayed penalty, but Loughrin didn’t give up, and took a shot from his stomach that beat the Stars goalie to make it a 2-0 game.  In the third period, Ayr continued to rise to the challenge that Cayuga threw at them, and scored at 7:20, once again on the power play.  The goal was scored by Jesse Janzen and was assisted by Josh Ritchie.  Ayr tried their best to keep the score at 3-0, but gave up a goal on an unlucky bounce with 36 seconds remaining.  Cayuga responded with “Let’s get another one!”  And prevailed, scoring ten seconds later.  Ayr desperately fought off another Cayuga scoring surge and won the game 3-2.  The Flames’ record improves to 4-4-1.  A good effort by the team!
