Ayr PeeWee AE Flames - Regular Season Week 1 Oct 6-8 2016
This past week, the Ayr Peewee AE Flames played 2 games, in Tillsonburg on Thursday and at home against Caledonia on Saturday.

The Flames were hungry to start off their season with a bang.  On Thursday in Tillsonburg, the Flames prepare for their first regular season game of the year after 2 ties and a loss in exhibition games.  Nate Sherk will start in goal for this game. In the first period, the Tornadoes made an impression by scoring 44 seconds into the contest.  They scored again with 2 and a half minutes remaining in the frame, but the Flames didn’t give up.  A lightning-quick answer scored by Aaron Henhoeffer and assisted by Tyson Kaufman and Josh Loughrin occurred just 30 seconds after Tillsonburg’s second goal cut the lead in half after one period.  In the second, Ayr scored with 2 minutes to go in the period.  Jesse Janzen was responsible for that equalizer.  In the third, both teams ignited the action, and participated in a seesaw battle of a third period.  Tillsonburg started it all with a goal 5 minutes in to period.  Then Ayr responded with a goal by Liam Hansen at 7:55 to tie the score at 3.  2 minutes later, Scott Hall put one past the Tillsonburg net minder assisted by Ethan Dunnet and Jesse Janzen to make it 4-3 Ayr.  The Flames were hopeful to hold on for a win, but conceded a goal at 4:30.  That’s how the game ended, and the Flames settled for a 4-4 tie for their first game of the season.

Against Caledonia at home on Saturday, October 8, 2016, the Flames were looking to get their first win. Gage Montroy will start in goal for this game.  In the first, the Flames started out strong and played smart with the puck, but were outshot.  In the second period, the Flames continued to play their best, even when missing 5 players, but alas it wasn’t enough to score a goal.  There was no score after 2 periods.  In the third period, the Flames tried to put enough pressure on the Thunder so as to score a goal, and it worked.  At 7:01, Tyson Kaufman scored the opening goal assisted by Josh Loughrin.  The team was ecstatic.  But right off the faceoff, the Thunder broke out on a one-on-one and scored, tying the game.  Gage Montroy was playing very well despite a minor scare with a slash to the mask.  With just under 3 minutes to go, the Thunder put one past Montroy to make the score 2-1 Caledonia.  Then with 7 seconds to go, the Thunder scored on a vacated Flame net to seal off the victory.  A great start to the season for all members of the team!  Great job guys!
