Playoffs Begin!
Weekend of January 23-24

Novice LL4 entered their playoff season with an early game against the Woolwich Wildcats on Saturday morning.  LL4 started off the scoring with a goal by William McCleod midway through the first period.  Near the end of the second period Woolwich tied the game.  But that didn’t last long.  Fisher Woznica scored seconds later, assisted by Lane Sauder and Liam Fahner.  In the third period, Braydon Hall seized his opportunity and with amazing precision shot the puck in from the corner.  It flew behind the goalie and hit the inside of the post, but when it bounced onto the ice it did not land in the goal line!  The whistle blew before Bryce McEwan had the chance to slap the puck in.  What a near miss!  Woolwich returned with another goal shortly after.  The next chance Braydon got to shoot at the net, he didn’t miss!  Maxx Vanoostveen passed up to Braydon, who deked out the goalie and scored!  He was also assisted by Paul Fahner.  Woolwich got one more goal to end the game 4-3.  Our boys played well and fought hard for the puck in this game, following the advice of their coach, Randy Smith and assistant coach, Tyler Brown.  Most importantly, they had fun!

Game 2 of the play offs was played against our local LL2 Novice Team.  LL4 opened up the scoring with the only goal in the first period, scored by Fisher Woznica and assisted by Paul Fahner. The second period was a flurry of activity! The opposing LL2 righted the score just over a minute into the second period.  Fisher did not like that tie and so he scored another goal, this time assisted by Lane Sauder.  LL2 once more tied the game with their second goal.  Several minutes of hard play passed before LL4 once more pulled ahead, this time with a goal from Braydon Hall, assisted by Fisher Woznica.  To finish of the second period, LL4 put one more goal on the board with a great shot from William McCleod and assisted by Boston Brown. Fisher Woznica prefers to do things in threes, so in the third period with assistance from Andrew Sayles, he accomplished yet another hat trick.  Several minutes on the clock later, just for good measure, Fisher scored once more.   The final score was 6-2 for Novice LL4.

As the team members take turns bringing home their ‘hard work helmet’ between games each boy is reminded that they each have their own very important role on the team and they are each recognized for their dedication and hard work.  Good work this weekend, team!
