Weekend of January 9-10
Novice LL4 started off this weekend with a Saturday morning game against another local team: Novice LL1.  LL1 started off the scoring with a goal midway through the first period.  However with just one second left on the clock Fisher Woznica scored, assisted by Liam Fahner.  The second period brought on 3 more goals by LL1.  Novice LL4  was close behind, scoring 2 goals in the second period – first by Derrick Groot, assisted by Liam Fahner and Will McCleod, second by Braeden Hall.  Novice LL4 scored the first goal of the third period.  However, we were not quite able to pull ahead.

LL1 came back with 2 more goals to end the game 6-4.  Grant Smith was in goal for this game and his skills were clearly evident with the many great saves he made against this hard-shooting team.  Good playing team!  And, congratulations on your win, LL1!

We were back at NDCC on Sunday morning to host the Woolwich Wildcats.  And what a game it was! Bryce McEwan protected the net for this game. Fisher Woznica started the scoring with a goal.  Woolwich returned with a goal on a breakaway shortly after. Another goal by Woolwich with 2:30 left on the clock.  However their one goal lead did not last long.  Fisher got a hold of the puck following the next face-off, and with perfect aim, shot the puck over the goalie into the net.  Second period: feel the heat!  LL4 was on fire, scoring 4 goals this period!  Fisher once again grabs the puck from face-off and shoots it at the net – goalie saved this one, but Boston Brown saw his opportunity and snagged a goal off of the rebound.  Several minutes later, in a perfect display of teamwork the forward line worked the puck on the opposing end.  A goal came when Cole Dietrich (who we welcomed to the team for this game) passed the puck to Lane Sauder who was in front of the net, and Lane neatly shot the puck in.  Equal credit goes to Lane, Cole, and also Will McCleod for that great goal.  But we’re not done yet!  Fisher Woznica earned a hat trick when he scored the next goal.  For the last goal this period, Lane Sauder passed the puck up to Brayden Hall, who took off on a breakaway and scored.  During the third period, LL4 continued to work hard, but were not able to get any more goals in.  Our defense remained strong as well, continuously taking scoring opportunities away from the opposing team.  Woolwich was able to get one more goal in with just 1:11 left on the clock.  The final score was 6-3.  Congratulations on your win, team!
