FINALS!!
The playoff finals for Division B began on Tuesday night the teams were, Ayr Flames 3 against Woolwich 2.

Cohen Dalton opened up the 1st period with 2 goals in 30 seconds, he was assisted by Deacon Samay with a drop pass for the second goal. JS Deacon made a great save with Noah Hoch and Jack Coughlin playing it tough on the defensive line. Deacon Samay scored the third goal of the 1st period with an assist going to defenseman Brody MacAulay.  Woolwich got on the board half way through the period, but Ayr didn’t let that bother them as they skated hard and fought harder for the puck. Jack Coughlin passed the puck up to Deacon Samay who scored the fourth goal of the period. Coming in with his first goal of the season, and a shorthanded one at that, Lukas Waschenko scored the fifth goal with only 35 seconds left on the clock! (Assisted by Matthew Aoun). The 2nd period was another period full of goals by, Deacon Samay, Matthew Aoun, and Cohen Dalton. In the 3rd period Ayr passed and skated as a team, a year of hard work and determination showed through every play.  Matthew Aoun finished the game off with an unassisted goal ended the game 9-1.

What a difference 24 hours makes!  On Wednesday evening, the team travelled to Elmira to play game 2 in their playoff finals with Woolwich 2.  During the 1st period, each team had equal opportunity with the puck, with some great shots at both nets. But JS Deacon and the Woolwich goalie were not letting anything get by them.  Ayr defence skated hard to protect their end.  Noah Hoch kept busy at the point.  Emmett Holman, Jack Coughlin, Jonas Lindsay and Brody MacAulay continually challenged and cleared the puck, and Colton Hanlon displayed his stick handling abilities as he brought the puck around the net and out of the Ayr end several times.   Even while on a power play near the end of the period, Ayr still could not get the advantage with an extra player on the ice.  The period ended with no scoring by either team.  The scoring started and ended in the 2nd period, when Woolwich scored the only goal of the game after several minutes of play.  Ayr defence and JS Deacon were able to hold off any more goals, and the period ended 1 to 0 for Woolwich.  During the 3rd period, Ayr had several attempts to tie up the game, including a great shot by Deacon Samay with less than a minute left, but the Woolwich goalie was earning a shut-out this time around.  The game ended with a final score of 1 to 0 for Woolwich.

After a few days break, Woolwich and Ayr met for the tie breaking game in Ayr on Saturday night.  The excitement filled the arena as many of the spectators could not sit still, or sit at all. The 1st period started off with a fast action chase for the puck by forward Sam Steward and Lukas Waschenko, the defensemen Colton Hanlon and Emmett Holman kept it well away from on their net.  Just over halfway through the period Cohen Dalton got Ayr on the board.  JS Deacon made a fantastic save on a breakaway from Woolwich. Jack Coughlin and Jonas Lindsay kept it away from our end and the period ended with Ayr in the lead. The 2nd period started with another quick save off the faceoff by JS Deacon.  Samuel Vaisanen really dug for the puck against the boards throughout the period.  Brody MacAulay made a brilliant defensive move to keep the puck away from Woolwich.  Deacon Samay scored Ayr’s second goal unassisted, and Colton Hanlon ended the period by getting the puck out of our end.  The 3rd period showed Matthew Aoun’s speed as he was everywhere the puck was. Noah Hoch showed his strength as he shot the puck out of Ayr’s end several times.  With less than 5 minutes left in the period Cohen Dalton scored the third goal with a great pass from Deacon Samay. Woolwich was able to get on the board in the last minute, but we had it in the bag and the game ended with a score of 3-1.

Congratulations to Ayr Flames LL3 as they won the trophy for the Division B champions!!!
