Feb. 12-14 – Lambton Shores Tournament
This past weekend the Novice LL3 travelled to Grand Bend for the Lambton Shores Tournament. On Friday night LL3 had a game against the Lambton Shores Predators Black team. In the 1st period the Predators were able to get on the board first, but that didn’t stop the LL3 from playing hard and working great as a team.  JS Deacon made an amazing save to end the first period leaving the score 0-1 for the Predators. In the 2nd period Cohen Dalton score two goals, with no assists and Matthew Aoun scored our third goal assisted by Jonas Lindsay.  The Predators were able to score another goal in the period leaving the 2nd period 3-2 for LL3. The third period had more great teamwork and again JS Deacon ended the game with an incredible save. The final score was 3-2 for the LL3.

Two games were scheduled for Saturday, but were cancelled due to weather conditions and road closures. Many mini-stick games were won in the hallway to make up for the missed hockey games.

Sunday morning the weather had cleared in time for the finals, LL3 played against the Lambton Shores Predators Red team, if we won this game we went to the finals! The 1st period started off with countless defensive plays by Emmett Holman, Brody MacAulay, Jack Coughlin, Jonas Lindsay, and Colton Hanlon. The forwards Sam Steward, Lukas Wascheckno, Matthew Aoun, Noah Hoch, Samuel Vaisanen, Deacon Samay, and Cohen Dalton, all had amazing control of the puck and skated with precision.  JS Deacon showed his ability as he covered the entire net making fantastic saves, keeping the 1st period scoreless. The 2nd period started with an amazing glove save by JS Deacon and half way through the period Matthew Aoun score the first goal of the game, assisted by Samuel Vaisanen and Noah Hoch.  The period continued with more great plays from all the LL3 boys, and to close out the period Matthew Aoun got the second goal of the game on the buzzer!!! Ending the 2nd period 2-0 for LL3.  In the 3rd period we couldn’t seem to get the puck out of our end, thankfully with our great defensemen and our amazing goalie the Predators were not able to score.  With a minute left in the game Deacon Samay, assisted by Matthew Aoun were able to get a power play goal to end the game with a shut-out, 3-0 for LL3 and we were off to the finals!

This was it LL3 were in the finals against Paris Wolfpack LL1, we had not played them yet this tournament and already you could feel the excitement in the arena.  The 1st period had just begun and you could see the teamwork from LL3, the boys knew where they were on the ice and where they wanted the puck to go. LL3 was able to score first with a tip in by Deacon Samay assisted by Jack Coughlin who shot the puck from the blue line.  Shortly after our first goal we got a power play and Samuel Vaisanen used that to our advantage as he scored the second goal with an assist from Lukas Waschenko.  There were more huge saves by JS Deacon through out the entire game. The 1st period ended 2-0 for LL3.  The 2nd period was just as intense and exciting as the 1st but with one more goal going to Matthew Aoun, deflected into the net by one of Paris’s own, leaving the 2nd period 3-0 for LL3. In the 3rd period Paris scored 2 goals, but we would not leave those unanswered. With the roar of the crowd behind them Cohen Dalton score our fourth goal with assists going to Noah Hoch and Samuel Vaisanen and Matthew Aoun scored our fifth goal, assisted by Cohen Dalton with 43.8 second left on the clock that closed out the third and final period, making our LL3 boys the Lambton Shores Tournament Champions!!!!! Way to go LL3!!!

We would like to say a big thank you to the coaches Nick Waschenko Steve MacAulay, and Jason Medeiros for all your hard work making this tournament a fun and memorable one.
