Novice
2 had a busy weekend on the ice having to lace up for two games. On Friday
night, we hosted the Paris Wolfpack 1 team in an exciting matchup.
It was minutes into the first, when the Wolfpack scored with a sniper of a shot. The Ayr fans were breathing deeply and thinking ‘Oh boy’ but this did not deter the team. Shortly after, the Flames
responded with a goal of their own when Jackson Dinney was assisted by Garrett Hickey and DJ Ross.
The second period began with a tie score of 1-1 and it was time for Novice 2 to step it up. Offence and Defense were working seamlessly but the Wolfpack goalie was a wall. Despite the frustration of
this goaltender, the Flames were able to score two in the second. DJ Ross was assisted by Jackson Dinney and Carter Witzel and Derek McIlravey was assisted by Jacob Carter and D’Arcy Mason. Both were
awesome displays of a relentless pursuit of the Paris net.
The Wolfpack still continued to work feverishly, never giving up, and soon they snuck another one past the goal to make it a close 3-2. In the end, Hudson Maycock was able to make it a 4-2 game for the
Flames as he was assisted by Derek McIlravey and DJ Ross.
It was another display of great teamwork in both ends of the ice and Liam Mason’s goaltending debut was stellar. At the end the shot clock was reading 22-10 in favour of Ayr. What a game! Go Flames Go.
