The Bantam Rep squad had a couple of games this past week.

On Monday night we entertained the Titans form Tavistock. The first period began slowly with each team feeling one another out. Matthew Tomlinson had an opportunity to open things up but his blast from the point resulted in a Titan being forced off the ice to recover. Noah Davis corralled the puck in the corner and let one fly but just missed the mark. It took until the midway mark of the second for the score clock to change. Andrew Legare neatly intercepted a cross ice pass in their end and fed the disc to Ryan Clinton along the boards. After eluding a d-man, he directed it behind the net to Dylan Dugal. From there, Dylan figured out the angle of the dangle and banked the puck off the goalie’s stick to give us the lead. Next, Jake Feicht found himself in the neutral zone with the puck and spotted Ben Scott, who had slipped in behind their defense. After a nifty pass and a shot to the top shelf, we were up 2 – 0. We went up by three before the end of the frame, when Trevor Wing outworked a defenseman in the corner and passed it back to the point. Eric Stranz took out the howitzer and bulged the twine. Isaac Seltzer was sparkling between the pipes, continually thwarting any Tavi chances to get back in the game. Near the end of the third period the shutout was spoiled and buzzer rang with the final score, 3 – 1.On Saturday night, we played hosts to St. George. It was a scrappy battle from the get-go. There was no score recorded for two periods. During that time, Will Barrie and Carter Purdon were the twin towers of defense. They managed to keep the opposition on their toes and make nice up passes to their offensive team mates. Matthew MacDonald was again a defensive zone specialist with amazing back checking. Jordan Morschauser was again our cheerleading champion from the stands! We jumped on the board first when Andrew carried the disc into the Generals end made a head’s-up pass to Sam McFarlane in the slot. Sam took a hard shot that stymied the goaltender, but the puck rebounded straight onto the stick of Ryan. The next thing the fans knew, we were up 1 – 0. Sam Johnson was a force in the nets for the Flames, as he regularly turned away opposition chances. In the last minute they managed to tie things up while we were short two men in the box. We were gracious hosts indeed as the team from St. George skated out of the NDCC with a point. Until next time, may the Flames be with you. By Doug Legare
