Novice Rep - Jan 20-Feb 2
The past 2 weeks have been busy for the Ayr Flames Novice Rep team.  OMHA playdown games were held against Aylmer (3-3), Tavistock (1-4), Ingersoll (2-3) and Simcoe (2-1).

The team traveled to Aylmer for a hard fought game.  Mark Zeyen opened up the scoring in the second period, assisted by Austin Brodhaecker.  Jack Whibbs followed up a minute later with the Flames second goal of the game, assisted by Simon DeSousa.  Christopher Cotter and Kaelan McDougald were moving the puck and forechecking hard.  In a blink of an eye, Aylmer was up by 3 goals and the Flames fought hard for the win.  Braydon Woznica was working overtime with the Aylmer onslaught.  In the last minute of play, the goalie was pulled and the Flames centre Austin Brodhaecker scored the tying goal, assisted by Simon DeSousa.  The team then traveled to Tavistock and Carter Wright scored the only goal of the game.  Nathan Sherk had an amazing game in net.  The team had a few days rest to recoup then played Ingersoll on home ice.  Ingersoll was on fire, scoring quickly in the first few minutes of the game.  The team was passing well, and Liam Foreman's defensive moves anticipated Ingersoll's forwards and he stole the puck often.  William Graff was everywhere, taking the puck up the boards and putting it into the offensive zone.  With less than a minute to play in the third period, Ingersoll was sitting comfortably in the lead 3-0.  The flames pulled the goalie and decided they were going for the win.  Mark Zeyen scored twice in the last minute of play, assisted by Jack Whibbs and James Sayles, but it wasn't enough for the win.  Last, the team hosted Simcoe and was itching for that winning feeling once again.  Jack Whibbs opened up the scoring in the first period, assisted by Brielle Dugal.  Late in the second period, Simcoe tied it up with lucky shot.  The game was tied until almost the end of the third period, when the Flames got a chance after a penalty was called against a Simcoe player.  With a 1 man advantage and 2:34 left in the game, the team fought hard and resulted in Jack Whibbs scoring his second goal of the game, assisted by Austin Brodhaecker.  Brielle Dugal and Jesse Janzen were stellar on defence while centre man Scott Hall was on fire.  The team continues through the OMHA playdowns next week with games against Ingersoll, Simcoe and Paris.
