Novice Rep - December 8-17
The past two weeks were busy for the Ayr Flames Novice Rep Team as they completed the last of their regular season games against some very tough teams Tavistock (1-0 win), Paris (4-6 loss) and Delhi (3-0 win).

The Flames hosted Tillsonburg for a very close game.  The sole goal was scored by Austin Brodhaecker, assisted by Carter Wright within the first minutes of the game.  For the next 33 game minutes, the team fought off an excellent opponent with plenty of forechecking by Christopher Cotter and Scott Hall.  James Sayles was everywhere, breaking up plays and taking the puck up the ice.  William Graff was working overtime, keeping the puck away from the opposition.  Goalie Braydon Woznika worked hard for a successful shutout.  Next, the team traveled to Paris for a tough fought game.  Paris scored right off the first face off, putting the Flames behind.  The Flames fought back with 2 unassisted goals by Mark Zeyen and Jesse Janzen just to see Paris pull ahead again.  Wright tied it up with the Flames 3rd goal, assisted by Brodhaecker but Paris came back once again and pulled ahead.  Zeyen's second unassisted goal of the game wasn't enough to fight off Paris.  Goalie Nathan Sherk worked hard, trying to keep the puck out of the net.  The Flames were up against tough competition and an aggressive team.  Although they lost the game, they won it with integrity and sportsmanship.  The Flames then traveled to Delhi for the last regular season game.  With Zeyen not available, Caleb Garchinski was called up from LL2 to lend a hand at center.  At the end of the first period and most of the second period, the score remained 0-0.  Janzen changed the game with a solid goal with 8 seconds remaining in the second period, assisted by Liam Foreman.  A fire was lit under the Flames!  Jack Whibbs was absolutely spectacular, carrying the puck down the ice for a beautiful pass to Brodhaecker, scoring the second goal of the game.  Another breakaway by Whibbs for an unassisted goal solidified the win.  Brielle Dugal and Simon DeSousa were instrumental at breaking up plays and forechecking the opponent.  Kaelen McDougald was working hard, helping clear the zone and taking shots on net.  Defence was stellar throughout the game, and along with the amazing skills of Woznica resulted in his 3rd shutout of the season.  The Novice Rep Team ends the Southern Counties regular season in 5th place out of 21 teams.  What an amazing accomplishment.  The team will head to Kincardine over Christmas to play in the regional Silver Stick tournament.  Wish them luck!
